Confirm the qualifying trade
The entry requires ownership of a 2012 or newer passenger car or truck, including qualifying three-quarter-ton and one-ton pickups and vans, and a trade toward the purchase. Some other offers cannot combine. Have our team check your vehicle and documents before including the allowance in your purchase plan.
Ask for separate lines
A useful worksheet shows the new truck's selling price, eligible incentives, trade value, trade payoff, dealer charges, and taxes. A trade with a loan balance is not the same as a cash down payment. The payoff and allowance determine whether equity is available or a balance still needs to be addressed.
Make competing quotes comparable
Ask each seller to use the same trade and purchase assumptions. A bigger trade number can be offset by a higher selling price, different fees, or a changed loan structure. Comparing the complete transaction helps you see the actual difference. Is trade assistance the same as my trade-in value?
No. Your trade value is the dealer's allowance for the vehicle; trade assistance is a separate incentive with eligibility rules. Ask for the new vehicle price, trade allowance, payoff and any qualifying assistance on separate lines. That lets you compare complete transactions without treating a large trade number as proof of a better deal.
